Differences in Skimboard Fiberglass
There are about 4 types of glass that you should really know about because they determine how your skimboard handles to large degree.
These 2 glasses are similar and well there really isn’t much of a difference between the two. They are different from E-Glass & Caron Fiber though. The S in S-glass stands for Structural since this fiberglass is manufactured a little differently from E-glass resulting in more strength. Both Texillium & S-glass have a tighter weave than E- Glass and therefore make for a stiffer ride. This therefore makes them quicker than E-Glass and more resilient to abrasion and general wear & tear by about 30%, but also more expensive.
With a material that’s stronger than steel and as light as a feather there really isn’t anything like carbon fiber. It makes the fastest boards and makes them nearly impossible to snap. There is one big drawback of these boards, price. But if you consider the longevity and other benefits what’s $200 extra for unmatched performance?
